About half a million implants are placed each year in this country.

Implants do not decay, and adjacent healthy teeth do not require crowns to support them. And because it is easy to clean and floss between implants, the gum tissue and underlying bone are more likely to remain healthy.

With a bridge, if one of the supporting crowned teeth breaks or develops decay or nerve damage, the bridge and its three or more crowns must be removed and replaced.

Implants can replace individual lost teeth or many teeth in a row. For those who have lost most of their teeth, implants can be used to anchor a full or partial denture. About half a million implants are placed each year in this country.

On average, the total cost of an implant to replace a single tooth is $3,500 to $4,000 (more if other procedures are required), or about one-third more than the cost of a bridge. But while bridges have an average life span of 10 years, an implant can last a lifetime.

Implants Can Last a Lifetime

Dental Implants are permanent tooth replacements that look and feel so much like natural teeth, patients usually forget they’re not.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root placed into the jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. Since the implant integrates into the structure of the bone, it prevents the bone loss and gum recession that often accompanies bridgework and dentures. Implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since they do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. Dental Implants are so natural looking and secure that the patient will never give a second thought when biting into a crisp apple. You know that your confidence about your teeth affects how you feel about yourself, both personally and professionally. Under the proper conditions and diligent patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime.

Replacing genetically missing teeth

The upper lateral incisor natural teeth are the small, side teeth just next to your two big front center teeth.

This tooth implant has so many details that you really should know before you start treatment. It can make or break a smile! It is often missing from birth.

The method used in the past was to move all the teeth forward to close the spaces. Unfortunately, this gave the smile a very unnatural appreance. This would have to be fixed later on with veneers to correct.

Ideally, the spaces for the missing teeth should be prepared for future implants.

It's best to wait until the person has finished growing, usually 19-20 years of age.

This video explains the process well.

Advantages of Dental Implants Over Dentures or a Bridge

Every way you look at it, dental implants are a better solution to the problem of missing teeth.

Esthetic Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth! Since dental implants integrate into the structure of your bone, they prevent the bone loss and gum recession that often accompany bridgework and dentures. No one will ever know that you have a replacement tooth.

Tooth-saving Dental implants don't sacrifice the quality of your adjacent teeth like a bridge does because neighboring teeth are not altered to support the implant. More of your own teeth are left untouched, a significant long-term benefit to your oral health!

Confidence Dental implants will allow you to once again speak and eat with comfort and confidence! They are secure and offer freedom from the irksome clicks and wobbles of dentures. They'll allow you to say goodbye to worries about misplaced dentures and messy pastes and glues.

Reliable The success rate of dental implants is highly predictable. They are considered an excellent option for tooth replacement.

Dental Implant Procedure

When you lose a tooth, a dental implant may be needed to replace the tooth root and crown. Dental implants are simply "anchors" that permanently support replacement teeth. They are secure and durable and can be cleaned and cared for much like your natural teeth. This restoration can be used for a single tooth, a bridge of several teeth or a denture.

The procedure requires a titanium ‘root’ (cylinder) be fitted into your jaw to replace the lost tooth's root. Once the implant is placed, the bone requires four to six months to heal. Once the implant has integrated, a support post and replacement tooth, bridge, or denture is anchored onto the implant.

Eat Your Favorite Foods!

If one is missing a tooth or more and desire to eat one's favorite foods, increase one's chewing ability, and improve speech, appearance, and self-esteem, then you might want to consider dental implants. A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and is made from surgical-grade titanium alloy to exacting specifications.Implants can be an effective way to replace a tooth or several teeth. Each implant is generally composed of a metal anchor that is inserted into the jawbone (upper and/or lower), and a protruding post, which is outfitted with an artificial tooth. Dental implants can also support a bridge, replace a partial dentureor secure a fixed denture as in over-denture. The process requires surgery and may take several visits to the treating team, in fact, could take up to a year to complete.
